The service offers training, consultation and support to schools, and other settings with regard to special or additional needs of children and young people, and individual assessments of the special additional needs of children and young people. We can also provide some on-going interventions with children and young people, individually or in groups, or monitor and supervise interventions. The role of Inclusion Centres is to enable pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities to have access to their education as an integral part of a mainstream school.
The Inclusion Support Panel is a multi-disciplinary advisory panel. It helps Portsmouth City Council to make consistent highly informed decisions about how to support children and young people's special educational needs and disabilities. It also advises the local authority about making fair access arrangements for pupils. Finally, it also now hears home to school transport appeals.

Mary Rose Academy is a designated special school which caters for children aged between 3 and 19 years of age who are experiencing severe and complex learning difficulties. Some children may have a complexity of special educational needs including physical difficulties, medical conditions and varying degrees of sensory impairment.
